Morgan Saylor loves learning fashion

May 5, 2013       Filed in Press       Comments: 0

Morgan Saylor enjoys learning about the latest trends.

The actress graces the June Miss Vogue magazine, wearing a selection of street style leathers and denim numbers.

The star is best known for playing Homeland’s moody daughter Dana Brody, but in reality she would rather not wear her character’s casual teenage attire.

[I’m] totally psyched about [going to my first Fashion Week],” she revealed to the magazine. “I don’t really know that much about fashion, but I’m really getting into it.

Although she might look like an average 14 or 15-year-old in the hugely popular TV series, Morgan is actually 18-years-old. She made a flawless appearance at the Golden Globes this year wearing a gold, beaded Naeem Khan dress, which she says was her first taste of the red carpet buzz. Despite her love of clothes, Morgan still needs help with the outfits she picks out.

It’s crazy how young I look,” she laughed. “I have to go to fittings with the designers of the shows I’m going to, and then I have my Vogue shoot, so my friend Anasha picked out my outfits for me before I left home. She put them all on and took pictures of herself to show me how to wear them.

The fast-rising actress received recognition for her performance in Homeland at the Golden Globes, with the TV drama nominated in the ensemble cast category. Despite this, there is nothing of a showbiz brat about Morgan, who described how her laidback and low-key style matches her personality.

Look at my boots, they are from Lacoste,” Morgan explained. “They were super smart but I’ve destroyed them in the snow.

Morgan Saylor is a Homeland hero

Apr 4, 2013       Filed in Press       Comments: 0

Audience members erupt into laughter watching Saturday Night Live comedian Nasim Pedrad impersonate Dana Brody from the TV show “Homeland.” Unlike Pedrad, the actress that plays Dana isn’t an adult. She has no need for extensions to make her hair long, and she doesn’t get paid to be funny. No distant celebrity portrays Dana. It’s senior Morgan Saylor.

Saylor moved to Decatur eight years ago, and since then, her career has taken off. After performing a few small plays at local stages, Saylor went to an open call for an agent to pursue a more serious interest in acting. She began with small parts in advertisements and TV shows, auditioning to find her “big break” in the film industry.

Morgan Saylor is cherub-faced star of Homeland, the edge-of-your-seat US drama that packs a lot of punch.

There is no more laid back actress in the world than Morgan Saylor. In her two seasons playing Dana on Homeland – the Rodarte-ish, pot-smoking, smile-free daughter of complex, exiled Iraqi war-hero (or is he?) Nicholas Brody – Morgan has invested the character with a kind of every-teen diffidence. “People like Dana because she can be badass,” Morgan says over the phone from her home in Atlanta, Georgia. “And they don’t like her because she can be badass. She’s not cookie-cutter.” She is Homeland’s Clueless by way of Urban Outfitters ‘edge’. Every show needs that, right?

Morgan first read for the part of Dana in December 2010, having just turned sixteen. “It was just a normal audition,” she recounts, “I didn’t know very much about the project. I knew who Claire Danes was and I knew Homeland was related in some way to what 24 had done, but other than that it was just another audition.” Little did she know that the show would go on to draw an international audience of millions, receive nine nominations and six awards at the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, and win the Golden Globe for Best Television Drama, amongst a host of other awards and nominations too many to mention.
