“Being Charlie” selected for TIFF 2015!

Aug 20, 2015       Filed In Being Charlie ,News       Comments: 0

Good News! “Being Charlie” was selected to be screened in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival.

Being Charlie is based on a compilation of real-life experiences written by two friends who lived through being stuck in the cycle of rehab. Eighteen-year-old Charlie Mills is a sharp-mouthed addict fighting to get back home, while his father constantly stiff-arms him to limit the distractions during a big election for governor of California. Charlie’s parents are at odds about their son’s return to rehab. Following a feeble attempt at an intervention, he agrees to work the program at a new adult rehab facility where he meets a handful of misfit personalities; among them is Eva, a beautiful but troubled girl, and Travis, a supportive house manager. Charlie’s internal struggle with his addiction is confronted by the envy for his best friend and his separate addiction with Eva.

The 40th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) will be held 10–20 September 2015.

Chris Bacon Scoring Rob Reiner’s ‘Being Charlie’

Jul 20, 2015       Filed In Being Charlie ,News       Comments: 0

Chris Bacon is currently recording his score for Rob Reiner’s upcoming drama Being Charlie. The movie follows an 18-year-old who breaks out of a youth drug treatment clinic, but when he returns home to Los Angeles, he’s given an intervention by his parents and forced to go to an adult rehab.

The film stars Nick Robinson, Morgan Saylor, Common, Devon Bostick, Susan Misner, Ricardo Chavira and Cary Elwes. Reiner is also producing the project with Simon Goldberg through their Castle Rock Entertainment company, alongside Johnson Chan and Stephanie Rennie.

The director’s son Nick Reiner wrote the screenplay with Matt Elisofon. The film marks Bacon’s first collaboration with Reiner who for the past 25 years has collaborated with composer Marc Shaiman on his films including Misery, A Few Good Men and The Bucket List. Shaiman and Bacon have previously collaborated on the TV show Smash and the feature Parental Guidance. Being Charlie is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere later this year.
